real life story:
there was a young guy, playing top-games like wow, needed more power and purchase from a friend a dual-pentium, after 3 month the case got some hickups, and ....
... i had to look for it
any infections?
the virus-scan from boot-cd crashed ....
mmmh .. hardware

why the hell every windows-noob uses the whole hd .....

remark (not for me) windows cannot check the system part at high speed,
and if you dedicate the whole hd(hard-disk - you noob!) for the os (operation-system .... like a broken windows)
then every time the check has to run for ..... hours ... more hours .... a lot more hours if there are broken hard-disk-sectors ... and .. so .. on

after re-partitioning (you cannot do this with windows ... ? .. -false, you can, but have to pay for those tools?)
and making the system-part smaller
a check would run a lot less than 1 hour
and the check for the non-system-harddisk-part runs at full speed --- ... thats quick, really less than an hour

ok - reason to fix this windows computer
one point: reduce the auto-setting for the hd-dma-speed
next point: swapped the port of the hd from sata1 to sato0 ---- why the owner, manufactorer set up this? who cares?

last point: i did not try to change this again, because even with a lower dma-hd-speed setting (uUdma6 .-->uUdma4)
the use cannot realize the difference and i would have to do more checks to proof for a hardware-fault on one sata-channel... the cable.. the harddisk-interface .. ..
and so on -
and i dont have the time to do it ..
..

.....
thats why i prefer to play urban-terror (with ma low power computer .... compared to cod4)
