Bacon Lattice |
|
I've not made this yet, but one of my University friends has and he said it was excellent. It looks like this:
Here's what I plan to do.
Get 12 rashers of streaky bacon and weave them together into a lattice, 6 going one way, 6 the other. Roughly chop an onion and sprinkle on top of the weave. Finally grate some cheese over the onion. Roll the lattice up into a swiss-bacon-lattice-roll and bake in the oven at ~200C for 20 minutes. If that doesn't cook it I'll shove it in for another 5 minutes or so.
I will then give some to my housemates and we'll eat it with toast and ketchup.
As an aside, yesterday we made one of our specialities - Lasagne. This involves a 2-3 hour wait while it reduces. In this time we watched Battlestar Galactica and drank strong cider on empty stomachs. By the time we came to eat (about 23:10) we were all plastered. Just thought you might be interested.

We live in the West Country, what can I say... Well, I could say Westons Vintage (8.2%) and Thatcher's Katy (7.4%) and that I'm still feeling a little rough...

My housemates and I are in discussion as to how best to make this a square meal that won't instantly give us all herzanschläge.
We polished off the rest of the Lasagne today with an accompaniment of vegetables roasted in olive oil, balsamic vinegar and basil.
