Guid |
|
I have copied TCE for a friend's son who played it at my house one night and wanted the game. As they ar all even more nooby than me and had no idea about dloading the game I copied my game onto a USB key and gave it to them. I think I may made a silly mistake in doing this as now I get kicked by pb for using a duplicate guid. I'm guessing that my friend has my guid and when his son is playing I can't. What can I do to get a new guid other than uninstalling the game or telling my friend to do the same?
The other thing that occured to me was that if his son (11yr old) starts tking etc I might get banned from my favourite servers if he is using my guid...

Solution:
There are two players with the same GUID on the server. Restart the game and if problem persists server admins.
So it shouldnt matter if you arent playing at the same time, if it is, you probably are fucked up.
Only reinstalling PB and the game will fix this (if you havent trying rebooting yet).
Might get quick fix answer from www.truecombatelite.com and if you aren't registered there, I can ask it for you.

Yeah, that wasn't a good idea. The pbguid is normally fixed so you can ban cheaters for good. I say normally, because there certainly is software out there that changes it. But I do not know where to get it. I only know that we sometimes could not ban cheaters from the gone-servers, because they reconnected with a new pbguid a few seconds later.

No, guys. There is a data which you have to delete. I'll watch which one it was, have not installed ET yet. And if you delete this, ET will create a new GUID if you start the game..

delete that file on your friends pc:
etkey
its located in:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Wolfenstein - Enemy Territory\etmain
(the path might be different on his machine)
edit: it will generate a new PROFILE + GUID

Unfortunately that is only the key which is stored in the etkey-file. That is not the punkbuster-guid, afaik. And Spliffy said he was kicked by pb.
Can you give us the full error-message, Spliffy?
However - If km is right we might be able to fix this without doing any damage.
- Go to the "etmain" folder in your "Enemy Territory" folder.
- Find the file called "etkey" and delete it (you may instead move it to a safe place somewhere else, just in case it won't work).
- Start TC:E. The game will create a new etkey.
- Open the console. Enter "\pb_cdkeyreg".
If it works: Send TriffiD a nice package of goodies and don't forget to add hawt nude-pictures of your wife (NOT [!!!] of yourself!)
If not: Play Urban Terror - No PB there to patronize you.

Like mtz and I said. You need to save etkey. You also can copy the whole folder and paste on your new OS Also your settings will survive Hacks, scripts, sensitivity, and so on
