Because it directly affects our freedom ingame.
We wont be able to see any mods.
There wont be any clan server, like we can see heros server on TCE, or pro servers on CoD4, where we can expect a good game level. We will be mixed with noobs, children and more...

nope...there will be some sort of ingame function to assure that you get on servers together with players that have a similar skill...

This stuff never works correctly, it is quite impossible to get it worked properly.

I heard this from my housemate a few days ago, and I'm not sure I'll be buying it now - perhaps just pirate it for the single player. I signed the petition in spite of it being useless - still, CoD4 sold 13 million or so copies. There are nearly 130,000 signatures on that petition, so nearly 1% of the sales of CoD4 - if all of those people would have bought the cheap, preorder version, that's £4.2 million, and the number of signatures is going up every minute.
The reason this is bad is that it completely destroys the "community" that PC gamers know and love. Clans cannot host servers, so clan members can't play together and have fun together. Nor can a new player join a community of fun and friendly players who will help them.
When I play CoD4 I immediately go to my favourites tab and join one of my favourite servers, where I know I will have a good game mode, good friendly fire and respawn settings, and friendly players. Back in TCE, we would all join gonzo, TN, Heroes servers etc because we knew the people on there and liked the maps etc. Servers had a community with their own jokes and so on. This is a large part of the fun of PC gaming - it's why we're all here! By taking it away, IW are destroying a huge source of fun in the game.

I mean that is the point. You can build up a community around PC-Games due to the fact that you are able to set up servers website, etc pp.
That is the problem with console games where you just have these "live" mode etc pp.
You are not free in your decissions. I mean check RainbowSix:Vegas.
Vegas was/is such a great game, with nice moving, gameplay, grafics etc. Really great. But the problem was: no dedicated servers.
And what happens? The community died.
Check TC:E. Community is still alive (ok, weaker than in the old days, but still working).
The only problem tc:e has is the fact that TeamTerminator stopped their efforts on the game. But community still lives.
If now Infinity stopps the work/support on MW2 the community will die faster than Bonzo with a nade in his hands.
It is all about money. They want to earn money (ok, i can understand that) but this is the fact why many pc communities will die.
they want us all to pay for console/or console like games.
And regarding to all these facts, TC:E will be one of the rare games which are great and were you can build something up.
The only problem is the age of this game. But we will see....
and by the way...my english is so cruel...

dedicated servers or not...I gonna buy that shit...not only for multiplayer but for the great singleplayer experience...call of duty 4 was the first game since more than 5 years that understood how to brilliantly entertain...
