I just setup my new PC with Win7 64 Ultimate (got that a few days ago as SB-Version). Works fine. Fast and stable (so far).
Most of the old software still works and - most important of all - ET works, so I think there will be no problems with TCE. I try that later today. Not all drivers can cope, yet. My Razer Mouse will not be fully supported until November, e.g.
You sometimes have to use tricks to get things working, but if everything fails, you can download a free, virtual Win XP from Microsoft and run elderly programs using that.

In my oppinion Win7 is fine. 64 bit versions lack support, but that is getting better by the minute and google helps you if you get stuck.

I can't judge which is faster, for I changed my hardware as well, but this is damn fast.
As for that graphics-stuff I cannot say anything. That is not my cup of tea. My games work and look brilliant.

When Windows XP came out, I installed my old Win 98 on a seperate partition so I could fall back if I wanted to. I have not booted into 98 once! But to be 100% sure you can easily install XP and 7.

havent experienced win 7 myself but read alot about it and the specialized press says that win 7 is the new XP
...actually there are alot of reasons to pension off your XP like better multicore support a simplyfying interface or a better
performance in general only to mention a few...so I think I gonna buy myself the 64bit system builder version...
wether 70€ for home premium or 140€ for ultimate...still need to think about it Wink

but dx 10, and the only alternative for that is vista....

Although I am not D3im0s:
- Ultimate has everything to join a network-domain (you normally don't need that at home).
- You can encode folders.
- You are not pissed by any function you once need, but don't have.

I forgot:
You can download a virtual XP from microsoft (I just did) and it works fine. However there are some limitations. I can not use programs that want to access the soundmixer controls of xp. Maybe there are ways of configuration, but still: This is no 100% XP. A dualboot installation is the only foolproof thing, imho.

oh i see... i thought anyone can dl it but its allready preinstalled in ultimate....

well, if its so half-assed anyway i'd also rather go dor 2 os, though i don't like the idea so much, too. i'll probably wait a few more weeks and then check google how things are working out with 64 bit home premium. i allready googled some applications i'd like to use and most of them seem to run fine.
