Seems like Return to Castle Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory was installed by another user.
You have to install True Combat: Elite as the same user who did install Return to Castle Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory.

hello swatme
download the linux files from here http://www.tcelite.net/component/option,com_remository/Itemid,40/ . Make it executable and then install first enemy-territory and then tce.
for et
To install go to Applications->System Tools->Root Terminal
Navigate to wherever you downloaded the file.
Simply run the file (./et-linux-2.56-2.x86.run)<-- change et-linux..... to the filename from your download
and it should bring up a GUI to help you through the process. I pretty much kept everything as default (by default PB is selected, keep this intact since you can't join a lot of servers without it).
Installed!
Simply type "et" from the command line to launch. Also the games section on your Applications Menu should have Enemy Territory as well (I had to log out for it to take effect)
tce is the same. For the update 0.49b copy the files from hand in your tce folder but you dont need the .dll and the _mac files this are files for windows and mac. The .so are for linux.Try it and
when you have problems I will help you

./true.combat.elite_0.49b-english-4.run is the update you cant it installed. For the update 0.49b copy the files from hand in your tce folder (after unzip) but you dont need the .dll and the _mac files this are files for windows and mac. The .so are for linux.
this is the 0.49 full version http://www.tcelite.net/component/option,com_remository/Itemid,40/func,select/id,35/. Its a zip file unzip this file and then ./name from the file

I know this is a little unconventional, but I'm trying an install under WINE, after all loads of games work using it, and some say it works better than Windoze for games ... I'll let you know how it goes

never, most of the games have not so much fps (emulation need power) texturbugs usw. A lot of games run but not so good how under window. The problem is wine is a windows emulation but not a full windows. Its make sense without Linuxinstaller but with a installer the best way is without wine. Try it and test it

Well... I got it to install and run ... got onto Force Main server and ran around shooting walls and things.
The menu screen started up in around 5 seconds ... which is much faster loading than Linux or Windows, I'll need to play around with the settings and see what fps Ican get out of it, then compare it with the Linux version (if I can get it to install).
This is current output of root terminal with that file again:

Now I'm getting really pissed!
it installed perfectly and let me run it, adjust all the settings etc.
I closed it down and started it, but it reset everything except my profile, and won't download the map files from the servers I try to connect to
Any ideas now?
