...Minecraft
Ok, I got the Idea of Minecraft. You dig holes, mine and harvest raw materials and build things from them. Beware of zombies, creepers and spiders when it's dark.
So when Kirby posted the link to the Yogscast-Guys, I watched quite a number of their Minecraft videos (Thanks, m8, btw). But then I was surprised. In this video they seem to play minecraft as a kind of adventure with actual tasks and problems to solve. At first I thought it was a kind of clever program that provides all this, but the reactions of the other characters are certainly not those of a computer but of actual people, reacting to lewis and simon in a way that no computer could.
How come? Can anyone explain that to me?
Minecraft looks like fun - do any of you play that regularly?

I never really got the point of how minecraft is fascinating so many people.
Sure you can build up your own dreamland with all that rocks and tools but
I'd rather prefer sim city or something similar. If it really has role play game
elements in it why shouldn't you play a genuine rpg like elder scrolls?
Minecraft is nothing that touches me.

The Shadow of Israphel series is their most viewed series. Old peculier and all the others are part of the yogscast crew, not npc's. Unfortunately there are no advanced ai programs for minecraft. All of the (named) charachters in SoI are controlled by real people.

Yeah, thanks! I started the series from Episode one and I guessed something like that meanwhile.
I can understand you, d3im0s. This block-graphics may not be state of the art, but what they made of it in the Shadow of Israphel is truely outstanding. I was honestly impressed. Floating cities, giant pirate-ships - amazing. At first they come up with small buildings, then some bridges and small villages and then they formed whole worlds, by the look of it. Absolutely incredible.
No wonder the episodes have around 3,000,000 viewers each.
Edit: And I very nearly died laughing when the heroes found a house with a creeper in it and the sign on the door said: "R. Astley".
